How We Make Money and Keep Prices Honest

Short answer

We may earn a commission when you buy through our links to Shopee and Lazada, placed via official affiliate programmes. That income never changes our price tracking or which deals we call genuine, and we disclose links in line with Singapore's advertising standards.

Independent shopping sites have to be funded somehow, and ours is funded by affiliate commissions. We think you should know exactly how that works — because the whole point of this site is trust. So here it is, plainly.

How affiliate commissions work

When we link to a product on Shopee or Lazada, that link can be an affiliate link, placed through an official programme — the Shopee Affiliate Programme and Lazada via Involve Asia. If you click it and buy, the platform may pay us a small commission.

The key point: that commission is paid by the platform out of its own margin. It is not added to your price. You pay exactly the same whether you use our link or not.

Why it doesn’t bend our advice

It would be easy for a site to call everything a “great deal” to earn more commission. We don’t, for two reasons:

  1. Our price tracking is mechanical. The “current” and “typical” figures come from the official affiliate APIs, recorded over time. Commission rates do not feed into them.
  2. Calling a weak deal “genuine” would destroy the site. Our only real asset is being right about whether a discount is real. We would rather send you away empty-handed than burn that.

So the commission decides how we get paid when you buy — never what we tell you to buy. If a sale price isn’t genuinely good, we say so, even on a product we could earn from.

The rules we follow

  • Official channels only. We use the platforms’ sanctioned affiliate programmes and APIs. We do not scrape seller pages, which would breach their terms.
  • Clear disclosure. Every page that carries affiliate links says so, in line with the Singapore Advertising Standards Authority (ASAS) guidelines. See our affiliate disclosure.
  • No links in alerts. Where a programme’s rules prohibit it, we keep affiliate links out of price-alert and newsletter emails.
  • Honest pricing language. We follow the spirit of the CCCS price-transparency guidelines: we do not describe a discount as genuine unless our own data supports it.

What this means for you

You get the same price with or without our links, a clear label whenever a link can earn us a commission, and price judgements that are driven by data, not by what pays best. If you’d like to understand the data side, read how our price tracking works; for the manual version, see how to spot fake discounts.

The bottom line

We earn a commission when you buy through our links, at no extra cost to you, and that income never changes our tracking or our verdicts. Being honest about deals is not just our principle — it is our business model.
